First I would like to say to all those that are saying to watch what you eat and go on another diet if it were that easy there wouldn't be a problem. Myself I have tried every diet and starved myself to death just to have it come back and then some I received the lap band three months ago I'm down about 50lb I love it!!! its the tool that I needed. I will say make sure you do Lots of research so you will know what to expect this is not the easy way out you will still have work to put into this. Your BMI is 31 that is just about the point were you go from over weight to Obese you are not too skinny for this surgery. This is the safest surgery you can have not like the bypass that is very scary, if for some reason you need all your nutrients just a poke of a needle!!! it backs the band off and you are back to normal. I wish you luck do not give up if there is a will you will find a way. here is a site that has so much info from a lady that had it done by the same Dr. that I used, look it over its very encouraging... http://www.tracyslapband.com/<br><b>References : </b><br>

I had gastric bypass surgery in April 2005. I started out at 268, now I’m 180 and holding. These links will help you in many ways to make a decision if this is for you or not. I vote yes, because it made such a difference in my life. I was taking 8 pills a day, and after my surgery, I lost my diabetes. The way they do the surgery, takes your diabetes away. I no longer have to take glucophage, and I no longer have high Cholesterol or high blood pressure. I’m down to 2 pills a day. I went from a size 26-28 to a 16-18.

Most people struggle with paying for the surgery. Go to this site, it is a great support system for you, because it’s only people who have had gastric bypass or lap band. Every insurance program has been rated, and you’ll get tips on how to deal with your insurance company, as well as, surgery tips, food tips, and just support. This site is free! I’d have to rate it a #1 site if you want to learn about the surgery and how to deal with the insurance companies and get support from other people in the same boat as you.
This is the #1 site for gastric bypass and it’s free! Extremely helpful! http://www.obesityhelp.com/
This explains about the surgery:
http://win.niddk.nih.gov/publications/gastric.htm
I really researched my surgeon, and I made a wise choice. Always get a surgeon that has done at least 200 of these surgeries. Get someone with a lot of experience, and you will do well.
Here’s all about my surgeon…
http://obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+James+Pilkington+djp.html
http://www.cmch.org/profile-pilkington.html
You just can’t find a better surgeon than him! He’s probably done at least 500 of the surgeries, so far. I did so well after my surgery, I thank him every time I see him.
I made it to 175! It's been almost 2 years since my surgery. I haven't had any complications at all with my surgery! My health has been very good, and I've lost the weight nice and slow, so my body doesn't look that much out of shape. I've been faithfully taking my vitamins, and my blood work came back excellent! I still think very highly of Dr. Pilkington, and would recommend to anyone thinking of this surgery, to have Dr. Pilkington as his or her surgeon. I'm walking proof, that he is an excellent doctor. I just spoke to another patient of his who told me she had a very good experience with him, and she is in excellent health, as well. He is a very caring doctor. I live in Florida in the winter. I see alot of folks down there because of my job, and I see people from all over the USA and overseas. Since my surgery, I've talked to lots of others that have had the surgery in Florida, and some of them didn't do as well, and I tend to think it's because their doctors weren’t as competent as mine. I feel that part of how you do, is because of your general health and attitude. The other major part is how good your doctor is.
Here’s a website that tells what to look for in a surgeon;

Weight loss surgery-like lap band surgery have become very common and very safe now. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges Obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Fly2india4health Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her Obesity surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Fly2india4health Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps

Hi surgery should be only used as a last resort. I had tried so many diets and nearly given up until a friend (who had lost over 50 pounds) told me about herbalife. if you want to improve your health generally, lose weight and have more energy then getting some nutritional help is vital. Once your body starts to absorb the right nutrients and vitamins and protein then you’ll be amazed how quickly you will feel the difference, usually within the first 48 hours if you get the right supplements and help. I had no energy and felt just generally rotten all round so I sought the advice of a nutritional coach (whose advice was FREE) and got myself some great products, I even got free samples before I got started so I could see just how good they were!! There is a website called myhealthabc.com If go on there and fill out the details page you will get a call with no pressure about what you need. There is a mall area as well that’s got some great info and its all set out with easy to follow headings so you can find what you want. It’s so easy and the stuff they have is excellent. I have been using their products for over two years and I feel great. I lost 70 pounds in less than seven months!! My sister lost 60 pounds in five months. The stuff is amazing. Try them you won’t be disappointed. Good luck ..... Jane<br><b>References : </b><br>

Good luck ….. Jane
References :

Eat only when hungry. Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span. Do not take more than three meals a day with no drink or food in between except water. The only exception is diabetic who shud take smaller meals more frequently. Go for surgery only when advised.<br><b>References : </b><br>

First to get it done, you may need to get fatter. It sounds like you are not fat enough. Then it does not wrk all the time. Also mentally you will consider yourself as someone who cannot control your weight. Americans are so fat since they think they need to eat less. But that is wrong.

They need to stuff themselves full of healthy foods. Before you eat dinner, eat a grapfruit, avocado and a banana. Then you are set. Your body will become better at losing weight and you will have less room for your fattening food.

Nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin and healthy. Salt has no calories but makes you fat and burning more calories does not help this fatness.

Find out about fastest way to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad fats, water retention and secret trick used by models to flatten their tummy before an event. Reading a book will take you hours but the information on a post, taking minutes to read, is not enough. The webpage below has just enough to know what you need to know. Links page has gov. BMI calculator to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age).

I think i understand your frustration, u have tried everything and u can not get rid of those few extra pounds. it can be the most depressing thing. the lap-band surgery is a good one to me. i think what u need to find out is where the scar is going to be, as far as the surgery goes that is the only thing that concerns me becoz thats the only thing that is bad.
It is a reversible procedure and u have nothing to lose (like a stomach), very quick recovery time and all.
SO ALL I AM SAYING IS GO FOR IT GAL!
u will love the way u look after u have done it.
U will still have ur stomach and all the cells needed for intrinsic factor and other important enzymes. gud luck my dear God bless u and ur decision.<br><b>References : </b><br>

You don`t really need the lap band surgery. Plus, I heard that some people start gaining weight again a few months after that procedure. Count the calories you eat and that should make a difference within a few weeks. I also plan my meals and exercises at projectweightloss.com. By the way, if you’re looking for more advice, you can ask on their forum.<br><b>References : </b><br>
