Your thumb can be in front or behind the bar. For the most part it’s not going to matter where it is located. I usually try to hook grip over the strap just for the sake of consistency. They wrap the same way for pull ups. I try to show it in the video, but just to reiterate the point notice that on the sliding straps the tail runs down the pinky. If it’s on backwards it’ll run down your thumb instead.
