There is a video on youtube that you will find extremely helpful, especially as it pertains to nonslip (rubberized) lifting straps, and how to wrap them properly! Enter the following title in the search bar:
Weight Lifting – The Nonslip Lifting Strap: setting the record straight
good vid, you said you always pull with mixed grip and left is underhand right is over though you might want to start switching up your grip a bit every so often or you could be setting yourself up for a bicep strain or tear down the road depending how heavy you go – and if you need to use straps im guessing you go relatively heavy…
Depends how you view it. Wrapping them with this method gives just enough extra grip that one is still using a lot of their own grip strength so the forearms still get plenty of work without the lift being sacrificed by grip fatigue.
Right now, I’m using an upper/lower split. Mon/Tues I’m doing 4-6 rep ranges with 120-90 seconds rest, then Thurs/Fri I’m doing 8-12 rep ranges with 60-90 seconds rest.
Hey mate, I just came across your video, very helpful! Hope your ‘Bulking’ year is going well. Out of curiosity, for bulk hypertrophy, are you using around the 10-rep range for most exercises? Thanks!
you are wrapping them backwards, it was a decent video until them, wrap AWAY from the hand, over the bar, so the strap rolls the bar into your hand and your hand rolls the bar into thew strap, if you let go the way you have it, the come undone
Cool, glad to hear it helped. I thought the video was pretty corny myself, but it seems like a lot of people new to straps are finding it useful, so that’s good
hey man thatnks alot. My freakin grip was holding me back so i bought wrist straps but i had no idea how to use them. lol. This video has helped me a lot.
Yes, straps would definitely help support your wrist on pullups or even bent over rows. I tend to go back & forth between using straps for chinups/pullups. They diminish grip strength, but you can get a few more reps for your back so usually I do lifts that focus on grip strength when I’m using straps for back lifts.
Well, body weight exercises are free weights, it’s just that you’re using your body for the weight.
Thanks man. I spent last year working on building raw power. I gained a little mass, but that wasn’t my real goal. This year, I’m going to do a bulk so I’ll be going back & forth between building raw power and hypertrophy lifting. Now that I’m into some decent numbers for my weight, I should be able to pile on some good size. Especially considering I’m only 5’7″, 10 pounds shows a lot on my frame.
Need straps badly, by the time I get to my third set of dead lifts I really struggle to keep my left hand grip
3sets X 6reps of 100kg

Thanks. Very helpful. I got a bad wrist and it hurts doing pullup. Would straps help? Or are they more for freeweights?
those are pretty serious numbers dude. Nice work. Are you just going for strength? Not wanting to put on mass?
take it easy dude everyone starts somewhere
I lifted 325 4 reps the other day, after doing sets at 305, 285, and 265. Not bad considering I’m 159 now.
paul roncetti is a douche…but how much weight can you do WITHOUT using straps
lol, thanks man. Shoulda seen me the first day trying to use them, it took forever and I felt like an idiot. Once I got it, I said, “DUH!”
screw these people. ive been lifting for a while and still learned from your video. thanks
LOL, my weight is 164 and my max deadlift is 365. I doubt you’re deadlifting 225% of your body weight.
nice but i hate when pussy ass bitches are the ones explaining how to do something in regards to lifting
