i’ve had a few before…i boiled my last one…not a big deal…no infection, however i just looked up the same ? and they said to wash with anti-bac soap (provon) and water for 3 minutes. My new barbell looks like powder coated sugrical steel, so i don’t want to ruin the finish by boiling. Or, is it safe to use right out of the package?

you can use anti-bacterial soap, or rubbing alcohol.

You could try soaking it in Listerine too, that’s what I do with my new barbells, and it kills all the possible germs from pre-packaging..
