I was going to get 14mm. Is that a good length? I’d like a short barbell, is 14mm short? Or should I get shorter? Please help. <3

Everyones tongue size and thickness is different.
Personally I wear a 10mm x 5mm bar sometimes even a 8mm x 5mm flesh tunnel, and I still have plenty of space on either side, some people I have come accross cant go any shorter than a 12mm, some a 14mm.
Its all to do with the anatomy of the individual. Best thing to do is try a few sizes, ask the piercer what they recommend, and work from there, on average Id be recommending a 12mm or 14mm, but its what YOU find comfortable in the end. Try a few.

If its a fresh piercing on the other hand, minimum of a 16mm long, once again dependant on the thickness of the tongue, to accomodate for swelling.

14mm is standard, anything else might pinch your tongue and make it hard to speak. i still have in my long orinigal bar though, because i like to play with it.

Get what ever you are more comfortable with. When you first get your tounge pierced, the barbells are a little long, to accomodate swelling. Keep that one in for at least 6 months, if not longer, while you heal. Then buy a few different lenghths, and wear which ever one is most comfy.

You need a long tongue bar when you first get it pierced.
It will be swollen, and it’s not good to have a short bar in while it’s swollen or while it’s healing.
Ask the person your piercing, they’ll be able to tell you better =]

14mm is quite short, even for a healed tongue piercing… so unless you have a tiny tongue (super thin), then I’d suggest against it.

Unfortunately, I cannot give you an exact answer because I do not know if this is for a new tongue piercing that hasn’t been done yet (in that case you’ll need a barbell closer to 3/4" to an inch) or a healed piercing. For healed piercings, the piercer will actually look at the size of your tongue and the angle of the piercing and give you a barbell that will fit snugly no matter what the size.

Best suggestion: go to your local piercer and ask what size would be appropriate for you. That way they can take a look and be certain what size is correct for your body.
